There are various contractual arrangements that can be utilized to hire a general contractor (GC) or construction manager (CM) for your commercial construction project. Regardless of the type of contract, it is wise to bring the GC or CM on board your team during the pre-construction phase to collaborate with your architecture and engineering professionals as they complete the design.

“Creative office” is a recent trend in new office construction and renovations of older spaces. Perimeter-style offices are disappearing, floor plans are opening up, and trendy breakout areas and cafés are replacing the rigid, closed layouts of the past.

Shingobee worked with Clockwork Active Media to remodel an old 1920s sheet metal fabricating shop into a modern, creative and collaborative office environment. First, the building shell was improved by the landlard (Volna Real Estate Holdings LLC). Clockwork then engaged Shea Design to develop an interior design and chose Shingobee as general contractor.

Construction of the Three Affiliated Tribes’ new five-story office building in New Town, North Dakota, is complete, and the Tribal departments are in the process of moving into the building. Shingobee provided design/build construction of the 50,000 square foot building, in conjunction with HTG Architects of Minneapolis.

Construction was started in May on a new Tribal Justice Center for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, in Cass Lake, MN. This $6.3 million, 30,000 square foot one-story building will house their tribal courts and police facility. Construction progress over the summer has included concrete and masonry work, followed by structural steel erection.

Shingobee has begun work on one of our most interesting, unique interior renovation projects in recent memory. Clockwork Active Media, a creative Internet media design company, has been looking to expand its office space, and leased space in a run-down industrial building near its current offices in northeast Minneapolis.
