Shingobee is constructing the new community center for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. The walls are being constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), a progressive, energy-efficient method. Concrete Inc. of St. Cloud, MN (Shingobee’s subcontractor) constructed the walls utilizing more than 50% local tribal labor. Shingobee and Concrete Inc. conducted training on ICF wall construction, OSHA regulations, and plan reading at the Leech Lake Tribal College earlier this year, to prepare and train local laborers for the construction of this facility.

Shingobee Builders, in collaboration with the design team of DSGW Architects and Obermiller Nelson Engineering, has begun construction of a school in Fort Totten, North Dakota, that will be a net-zero energy building, the first of its kind on tribal land in the country.

Shingobee has been providing construction services since May of 2015 on a new Tribal courts and police facility for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, in Cass Lake, MN. A great amount of progress on construction has been made in recent months, nearing completion of the building exterior and much of the interior finish work.

Construction of the Three Affiliated Tribes’ new five-story office building in New Town, North Dakota, is complete, and the Tribal departments are in the process of moving into the building. Shingobee provided design/build construction of the 50,000 square foot building, in conjunction with HTG Architects of Minneapolis.

Construction was started in May on a new Tribal Justice Center for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, in Cass Lake, MN. This $6.3 million, 30,000 square foot one-story building will house their tribal courts and police facility. Construction progress over the summer has included concrete and masonry work, followed by structural steel erection.

Groundbreaking was held Wednesday, August 5, for Red Hawk Estates in New Town, North Dakota. Pictured above are Tribal Councilman L. Kenneth Hall with North Segment leadership and Architect Mike Laverdure. Shingobee will be constructing the 36-unit apartment building for the North Segment Community Development Corporation, an entity of the Three Affiliated Tribes.

Shingobee has completed construction of the new Meskwaki Travel Plaza for the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa (Meskwaki Nation). The new fuel station / convenience store is located at the entrance to the Meskwaki Casino, near Tama, Iowa.
