The Cornerstone

St. Michael, Minnesota

Shingobee oversaw the construction of the City of St. Michael’s downtown redevelopment, named “The Cornerstone.” Located at the southwest corner of County Roads 35 and 19 in the heart of St. Michael, the project included the development of the entire two-acre site, construction of a new building for Thrifty White Pharmacy, and construction of a two-story office/retail building.

“The Cornerstone” project included two buildings totaling nearly 26,000 square feet of space. In keeping with the community’s desire to maintain its small town feeling, the buildings incorporated architectural features that create an image of well-maintained historic buildings, while also providing modern interior space designs that permit retailers to accommodate customers and compete with larger retailers. The Thrifty White building is a single-story, 10,900-square-foot building; the two-story building includes approximately 15,000 square feet, leased to retail and office tenants. A small plaza area, parking, and landscaping completed the development of the two-acre site. Both buildings were completed and available for occupancy in September 2006.

Tenant improvements were provided for all tenants of the two-story, 15,000-square-foot office/retail building, including EyeWest Vision Clinic, U.S. Home Source Realty, Snap Fitness, and State Farm Insurance.
