Grand Casino Hinckley Hotel

Hinckley, Minnesota

The Grand Casino Hotel at Hinckley, Minnesota, was designed for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe to provide a destination property unparalleled in northern Minnesota.

This seven-story, 253,000-square-foot hotel provides a corresponding image to the existing casino facility. The first floor of the hotel contains a family-style swimming pool, a 10,600-square-foot ballroom/bingo hall, and the lobby, which includes a registration area and a granite waterfall. Retail space, a fireplace lounge, and four meeting rooms are also located on the first floor. Over 280 guest rooms and suites fill the rest of the upper levels.

The contemporary north woods interior design was strongly influenced by “Prairie School” design themes, which are found in the millwork details, lighting and furniture. The exterior of the hotel design is quite contemporary and architecturally in keeping with the design concept of the casino buildings. Shingobee Builders, Inc. and Ryan Companies US, Inc. teamed with Walsh Bishop Associates, architect, and ICI Interior Design on the fast-track design-build process utilized to complete the hotel.
