Leech Lake Band Celebrates Grand Opening of Onigum Community Center

Tribal members of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the new Onigum Community Center on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Shingobee provided construction of the new community center, located in the Onigum community near Walker, MN, in the southern section of the Leech Lake Reservation.

ABC / MNOSHA Cooperative Compliance Partnership Agreement: How it Helps You

Created in 1998, OSHA’s Strategic Partnership Program is an extensive, voluntary cooperative business partnership between OSHA and contractors. The partnership is designed to help companies recognize hazards on the construction site and implement strategies to reduce the dangers of these risks. Together, both MNOSHA and the contractors can help business owners create safety and health management systems for their employees, customers/clients, and the public at large. Onigum Community Center Wall Top-Out

Shingobee is constructing the new community center for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.  The walls are being constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), a progressive, energy-efficient method. Concrete Inc. of St. Cloud, MN (Shingobee’s subcontractor) constructed the walls utilizing more than 50% local tribal labor. Shingobee and Concrete Inc. conducted training on ICF wall construction, OSHA regulations, and plan reading at the Leech Lake Tribal College earlier this year, to prepare and train local laborers for the construction of this facility.

Shingobee donates to HERO Foundation following Business After Hours event

For the Waite Park Chamber “Business After Hours” event hosted by Shingobee Builders on September 21, Shingobee pledged a donation to the Nicholas P. Koenig HERO Foundation for each person attending the event. Thanks to the great turn-out at the Business After Hours, Shingobee donated $1,000 to the Foundation.

Students Tour In-Progress Dickinson Public Works Building

The Dickinson Public Works building is scheduled to be ready for move-in in July. Last week, a group of students took a field trip to the building to learn about what the Dickinson Public Works department does for their city.
